International Artists
The Residency at Casa Gràcia invites applications from international artists for a two-month residency in Mahón, Menorca.
-
Each year, Casa Gràcia hosts a cohort of five visual artists and two writers.
Founded by Rashid Johnson and Sheree Hovsepian, The Residency at Casa Gràcia was established to provide artists with time and space for sustained, independent work. The residency is self-directed and does not require the production of a final exhibition or public outcome. It is designed to support concentration, experimentation, and reflection outside of usual professional pressures.
The residency is supported and administered by Hauser & Wirth Menorca. While the program operates independently, we encourage residents to engage with the cultural life of the island during their stay.
Menorca’s layered histories, coastal geography, and distinct seasonal rhythms offer a setting conducive to focused work. We welcome applications from emerging and mid-career artists seeking dedicated time to deepen or expand their practice.
-
The selected artist will receive:
Private studio space at Casa Gràcia (ground level, secure, with natural light, plumbing, and easy material delivery access).
Accommodation at Casa Gràcia, including a large bedroom, private ensuite bathroom, and gracious kitchen and living spaces (possibly shared with another resident).
All utilities (heat, air conditioning, water, electricity) and a weekly housecleaning service.
Administrative and logistical support from the Hauser & Wirth Menorca team during office hours.
A 25% discount at Cantina restaurant, located within the Hauser & Wirth Menorca art center on Illa del Rei (offered during the gallery’s opening season of May through October).
Additionally, some artists may be eligible for a stipend of €8,500 to help cover travel, living expenses, materials, and shipping.
Participation in any public programs or community engagement is encouraged and should be developed in conversation with the resident.
